Nonlinear
From Syncleus Wiki
Nonlinear means just that - not linear. In almost all situations, nonlinear is a keyword that means "this just got much harder." Depending on the context, nonlinear can mean:
- Polynomial equations of degree higher than 1
- Systems of equations that cannot be described by a matrix equation with constant coefficients
- Differential equations that contain nonlinear operators
While there are very general ways to solve linear systems and many applicable mathematical theorems, nonlinear systems generally defy analysis. This is somewhat unfortunate because the most important electronic component of all - the transistor - is nonlinear in all its forms.
